Most experts agree that the first blog was Links.net, created in 1994 by then-student Justin Hall as a place to publish his writing. The site consisted entirely of brief posts, each one sharing a link and some of his thoughts on the content within.
WEBLOG ➤ we BLOG
The term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger on 17 December 1997. The short form, "blog," was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999.
What are blogs used for?
The purpose of a blog is to aid marketing to a point where the content you deliver is targeted specifically to the wants and needs of your audience. Provide answers to their most commonly asked questions or provide advice to areas within your niche that your business is an expert on.
Why do they call it a blog?
It's an abbreviation of the rather awkward neologism “weblog,” literally “a log of activities that you make available on the web.” The word “weblog” was coined in the early 90s. The shortened form “blog” is generally credited to blogger Peter Merholz, who first used it in 1999.
